The Statistics and Analytics Steering Committee must be made up of members representing
at least two participating colleges. The committee should consist of one graduate
faculty member from each of the Concentrations serving as its representative on the
committee.
The Program Director will be a member of the committee and also serves as the Committee
Chair; the Program Director votes in case of a tie vote.
The committee is primarily responsible for admissions, program curriculum, and student
performance reports
Admissions
Admissions criteria will be determined by the committee. A positive majority vote
of the committee (to include an affirmative vote of the respective Concentration representative)
is required for admission to the program.
Transfer to a different Concentration must be approved by the committee (to include
an affirmative vote of the respective Track representative to which the student is
transferring).
Curriculum
A positive majority vote of the committee (to include an affirmative vote of the respective
Concentration representative) is required to approve curricula requirements of each
Concentration. Committee members work with their respective Concentration faculty
to ensure the appropriateness of the Concentration curriculum. A positive majority
vote of the committee and a positive recommendation of the Director is needed to recommend
a candidate for the degree.
Advisory and Thesis Committees
All students in the program must formulate a Graduate Advising Committee.
Thesis option students will also formulate a Graduate Thesis Committee.
Each committee must contain at least 3 STAN faculty members representing a minimum
of two different academic departments, and if possible two different colleges. At
least one member must be a faculty representative from the Concentration the student
is pursuing.
The Graduate Advising Committee will
Formulate and approve (subject to the STAN Concentration curriculum) the student’s
program of study.
Administer comprehensive examinations as required.
The Graduate Thesis Committee will administer the thesis examinations, and student
defenses.
