Steering Committee

  • The Statistics and Analytics Steering Committee must be made up of members representing at least two participating colleges. The committee should consist of one graduate faculty member from each of the Concentrations serving as its representative on the committee.
  • The Program Director will be a member of the committee and also serves as the Committee Chair; the Program Director votes in case of a tie vote.
  • The committee is primarily responsible for admissions, program curriculum, and student performance reports

Admissions

  • Admissions criteria will be determined by the committee. A positive majority vote of the committee (to include an affirmative vote of the respective Concentration representative) is required for admission to the program.
  • Transfer to a different Concentration must be approved by the committee (to include an affirmative vote of the respective Track representative to which the student is transferring).

Curriculum

  • A positive majority vote of the committee (to include an affirmative vote of the respective Concentration representative) is required to approve curricula requirements of each Concentration. Committee members work with their respective Concentration faculty to ensure the appropriateness of the Concentration curriculum. A positive majority vote of the committee and a positive recommendation of the Director is needed to recommend a candidate for the degree.

  • All students in the program must formulate a Graduate Advising Committee.
  • Thesis option students will also formulate a Graduate Thesis Committee.

  • The Graduate Advising Committee will
    1. Formulate and approve (subject to the STAN Concentration curriculum) the student’s program of study.
    2. Administer comprehensive examinations as required.
  • The Graduate Thesis Committee will administer the thesis examinations, and student defenses.
